Oral Manifestations of Hemolytic Anemia: A Case Report

چکیده
Hemolytic anemia is a condition when there is a decreased number of erythrocyte in the circulation due to premature destruction. Mucosal pallor, jaundice, and paresthesia may appear as the oral manifestations of hemolytic anemia. Case presentation: A 48-year-old man came to oral medicine clinic with complaint of discomfort and spontaneous bleeding from a bump on the left of his tongue. Bruises were noticed on arms and legs. Intraoral examinations showed pallor of the palatal and gingival mucosa, red black colored blood clot with spontaneous bleeding seen on the left lateral of his tongue and on the buccal mucosa. Complete blood count examination revealed blood disorders. Patient then was referred to the Internal Medicine Department who diagnosed him to have the warm type autoimmune hemolytic anemia with immune-mediated thrombocytopenia. Management of patient’s systemic condition by Internal Medicine Department had given a significant progress of general health and oral manifestations Conclusion: Dentist might be the first health professional who recognize oral conditions that usually reflect the early signs of systemic conditions. It is important for dentists to perform a complete examination to establish diagnosis and proper comprehensive treatment planning. Concurrent Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome and Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia: a case report
Background: Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a life-threatening and scarce disorder characterized by acute renal failure and disease, non-immune microangiopathic hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia, leading to end-stage renal failure or death, and consequently maybe accompanying by extra renal manifestations. Case report: We reported aHUS accompanied by autoimmune hemolytic anemi...

Background: Leptospirosis is characterized by very diverse clinical manifestations, which may range from flu-like subclinical forms to very severe presentations characterized by multi-organ failure, or to atypical presentations. One of its most aggressive presentations is Weil’s disease, characterized by jaundice, hemorrhagic phenomena and renal failure. Cases with high bilirubinemia over 30mg/...

Background: Splenic infarction (SI) is a rare clinical entity seldom encountered in veterinary medicine. Its most frequent causes include thromboembolic status, splenomegaly, and cardiac disease. Although thrombotic elements from the circulation provide the most common context for thromboembolic SIs, immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) has not been reported as an underlying...
متن کاملHemolytic Anemia as an Outcome of Occupational Exposure to Formalin: A Case Report
ABSTRACT Background: Occupational exposure studies indicate that formaldehyde exposure causes temporary and consistent effects on industrial workers exposed to formalin. Case: The case was a 36-year-old man who had developed intravascular hemolytic anemia caused by formalin after inhalation exposure. Formalin is a clear solution of 37% formaldehyde in water. The primary route of exposure to f...
متن کاملAutoimmune Hemolytic Anemia in a Patient with Probable Ataxia Telangiectasia: A Case Report
Background: Ataxia telangiectasia (AT) is one of the combined immunodeficiency syndromes with immunologic, neurologic, endocrinologic, hepatic and cutaneous abnormalities. Regarding the fact that autoimmune disorders; such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), are not generally expected in the course of AT, we present a patient with an unusual presentation of these two conditions. Case present...
